چکیده

Occlusion is the concept that several objects interfere with one another in an image. This phenomenon is prevalent in high resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images in urban areas. Geometric contents, which enable us to analyze occlusion, are partially observable in high resolution SAR images. Estimation of occlusion boundaries helps to discriminate different objects and localize their extents. An occlusion boundary map also corresponds to an efficient figure / ground segmentation, which would be quite promising for further object analysis. This paper applies a hierarchical framework [1] to extract occlusion boundaries among different objects, e.g. buildings and trees. The framework uses Conditional Random Fields to simultaneously reason about the boundaries and segments.

Unsupervised Synthetic Aperture Radar image partitioning using Fisher distributions

A new and fast unsupervised technique for partitioning high resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images into homogeneous regions is proposed. This technique is based on Fisher probability density functions (PDF) of the pixel value fluctuations and on an image model that consists of a patchwork of homogeneous regions with polygonal boundaries. The partition is obtained by minimizing the sto...

Target aspect estimation from single and multi-pass SAR images

A technique is presented for estimating the aspect of targets in SAR imagery for use in indexing, feature extraction and recognition. Aspect estimation is enhanced by combining multiple images of the same target. In order to properly combine the estimation of multiple passes, it is necessary to accurately register the images to a common coordinate frame. An algorithm for registering multiple hi...

Bridge Height Estimation from Combined High-resolution Optical and Sar Imagery

Today’s airborne (Memphis, AeS-1, Ramses) and space borne (TerraSAR-X, CosmoSkyMed, Radarsat) SAR sensors provide very high resolution imagery independent of daylight and cloud coverage. Space borne systems achieve geometrical resolutions of down to one meter while airborne sensors are capable of acquiring images with sub metric resolution. In this kind of data, urban objects like buildings and...

Building Height Estimation from High Resolution SAR Imagery via Model-Based Geometrical Structure Prediction

Height extraction by radar remote sensing is an attractive issue for the building detection and recognition. According to the analysis on the building geometrical properties in the SAR imagery, a novel height estimation algorithm is proposed following a model-based geometrical structure prediction and matching strategy. The range Doppler equation is introduced and simplified for the building 2D...

Improving Super-resolution Techniques via Employing Blurriness Information of the Image

Super-resolution (SR) is a technique that produces a high resolution (HR) image via employing a number of low resolution (LR) images from the same scene. One of the degradations that attenuates performance of the SR is the blurriness of the input LR images. In many previous works in the SR, the blurriness of the LR images is assumed to be due to the integral effect of the image sensor of the im...
